Sowing crops not affected by demonetisation says Agriculture Minister
Kolkata: The Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Radha Mohan Singh has said
that the cultivation of crops has not been affected by demonetization.
Refuting the allegations of the Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamta Banerjee in Kolkatta
on 13 February, 2017, Singh said that the sowing of seeds this year has been much higher in
comparison of last year. In fact during November 8 to December 31, 2016, the percentage of
sowing of seeds in various agricultural sectors was seven
percent higher than corresponding period of 2015-16, Singh told .
Ms. Banerjee, has been constantly protesting against the decision of demonetisation and had
alleged that farmers were not able to buy seeds during the sowing season in November –
December due to its impact .
Agriculture Minister said that the poor section of the society has benefited with the economic
policies of Modi Government and the decision of demonetisation, has helped that rural economy
in a big way.
