PM Modi Lays Foundation Stone of IARI at Dhemaji in Assam

Dhemaji: The Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of the Indian Agricultural Research Institute at Gogamukh, Dhemaji in Assam. Addressing a large public meeting on the occasion, the Prime Minister congratulated the State Government in Assam and Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, for the work done by them in the State.

 

Modi said the foundation stone of IARI in Gogamukh, nearly 365km from Guwahati, has the potential to impact the entire region in a positive way in the future.

 

Flanked by Assam governor Banwarilal Purohit, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal along with union agriculture minister Radha Mohan Singh on stage, Modi said that agriculture needs to be developed in line with the requirements of the 21st century. He added that farmers must benefit from the changing technology.

 

IARI will be fully funded by the Centre and a proposal for 98 staff posts has been approved by the Union Cabinet.
