IG International exports ‘Rich Bananas’ to Middle East

MUMBAI: I.G. International Pvt. Ltd. (IGLPL), one of the country’s leading names in fresh fruit imports and exports, has commenced exports of Bananas with the first container of around 18 tonnes of Bananas exported to the Middle East.  The Bananas are exported under the brand name ‘Rich Bananas’ and caters to consumers who are looking for the highest quality.

Simultaneously, I.G. International has also commenced marketing of this branded high quality ‘Rich Bananas’ in the domestic market.

The Company has set up infrastructure in Delhi, Jaipur and Mumbai to ripen the Bananas as well as cold chain infrastructure to overcome supply chain bottlenecks to ensure the quality of Bananas.  The Bananas would be available throughout the year and the pricing will be consistent as the company is working directly with the farmers.

India is the world’s largest Banana producer (around 17 million tonnes per annum), but due to lack of good cultivation practices and post harvest management facilities, only around 50,000 tonnes every year is exported.  I.G. International has expertise in Banana crops and post harvest handling and plans to capitalise on the global opportunity.  It has set a target of achieving Banana exports of Rs.60 crore in the next couple of years.
