
Cabinet approves 3 year action plan for agricultural education and research
New Delhi: The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the continuation of the Three Year Action Plan (2017-2020) of the scheme for Agricultural Education Division(NAARM, NARES) and ICAR Institutes with an outlay of Rs.2225.46 crore, of which Rs 2197.51 crore will be central goverment’s and rest Rs. 27.95 crore will be state’s share under All India Coordinated Research Projects.The initiative of the project is primarily to empower the agricultural education of the nation.
The proposal plans on allocating Rs Rs.2050.00 crore,Rs.151.21crore and Rs. 24.25 crore for strengthening and development of higher agricultural education in India, ICAR-National Academy of Agricultural Research Management (NAARM), Central Institute of Women in Agriculture (CIWA) including All India Coordinated Research Project on Home Science (AICRP-HS) respectively.
The scheme aims at providing quality human resources from the agriculture educational institutions by building a platform to encourage the students to take up agricultural studies in higher education. The project further aims at filling the vacancies in various agriculture instututions. Alongside it will promote innovations, and enable technology learning. Extending financial support , the scheme supports the strengthening and modernization of infrastructure and providing the necessity tools for capacity building of both faculty and the students.
