NRCSS organizes Rashtriya Beej Vitaran Mela 2016

AJMER:  National Research Centre on Seed Spices (NRCSS), Ajmer organized a two-day “Rashtriya Beej Vitaran Mela 2016”on Sunday. Inaugurating the Mela, Dr Gurbachan Singh, Chairman, Agriculture Scientist Recruitment Board (ASRB), New Delhi , stressed upon the importance of water in the region specially rainwater harvesting and various water saving irrigation techniques.

Dr Singh also advocated for attracting youth in agriculture. He also released the Research Newsletters of the Centre and a series of Extension Folders.

Dr. P S Rathore, Vice Chancellor, S K N Agriculture University, Jobner briefed about the contribution of seed spices in arid environment and role of NRCSS by providing good and quality seeds before sowing in the season.

Dr. Gopal Lal, Director, ICAR-NRCSS briefed about the various research and extension activities done by the institute. He specially highlighted the 16 varieties released by the institute and various seed spices based products like RTS, Methi biscuits beneficial for diabetes patient and other package and practices.

Directors of ICAR Institutes and Senior Official from ICAR Headquarters were present on the occasion and deliberated on various issues.

On this occasion exhibition and Kissan Sangoshathi were also organized.
