Nitish Calls for All Round Development of Agriculture

Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has underscored the need for all round development of agriculture and its allied sector to augment the farmers’ income.

Nitish had initiated the agriculture roadmap for the first time in 2008 which was followed by the second one in 2012. The government has asked for the farmers’ suggestions before finalising the third agriculture roadmap for the period 2017-22.

“The main objective behind formulating agriculture road map is to increase the income of farmers,” Nitish said while spending eight hours with a gathering of farmers who had come from across the state to attend the ‘Kisan Samagam’ at Samrat Ashok Convention Centre (Gyan Bhawan).

The suggestions of the farmers will be taken into account in the roadmap for 2017-22 before finalising it.

Nitish also admitted loopholes in the implementation of the previous roadmap.
