Kerala Agri varsity brings out new plant nutrients

In a bid to address the issue of nutrition deficiency which is cited as a major cause of decline in crop productivity in the state of Kerala, Kerala Agricultural University (KAU) has brought out innovative plant nutrient formulations to improve crop productivity in the state.

The university has introduced multi-nutrient, water-soluble tablets and mixtures, micro-nutrient preparations, nutrient sticks and pellets, and fortified manure discs.

According to the KAU scientists, quality evaluation tests have indicated that soil in several parts of Kerala are deficient not only in major nutrients, but also in secondary nutrients such as boron, zinc, magnesium and calcium.
