Centre Asks States to Remove Stock Limit on Pulses

New Delhi:  Central government has asked all the states to remove stock limit on pulses in view of the bumper domestic production of pulses.

“In view of adequate availability of pulses in the country and their falling prices, the stock limit on pulses is being immediately removed,” Food and Consumer Affairs Minister Ram Vilas Paswan tweeted. “Keeping in mind the interests of farmers growing pulses, the states have been asked to immediately remove stock limit on pulses,” he said.

Earlier Paswan had expressed concern over the falling prices of pulses.

Earlier the decision to impose a storage limit on pulses was taken to prevent hoarding and help in controlling the price rise. However, it failed to produce the desired results.
